BACKGROUND: Ezio @ AC wiki, apologies in advance for how long it is EVERYTHING HAPPENS TO HIM SO MUCH.
PERSONALITY: Would it be too glib to call Ezio a "Renaissance man"? Because he is not only literally a man of the Renaissance, but his personality also encompasses some of the best aspects of that milieu: particularly his curiosity and thirst for knowledge, as well as his open-mindedness and humanist principles. Ezio was raised as a Florentine noble, with all the education and privilege that affords him - but he's just as comfortable befriending a thief, stablehand or prostitute as he is socializing with the elite. Ezio understands that a person's social status doesn't determine the quality of their character, and he particularly dislikes people who seek power for its own sake, or who cause others to suffer just because they can.
One of Ezio's defining traits is his loyalty. To both the Brotherhood as a whole, and to anyone he cares for or considers family. For instance, while his relationship with Machiavelli is at times contentious, Ezio was very reluctant to believe that the younger man might be a traitor to the Brotherhood, even as Volpe came to believe it and the circumstantial evidence started piling up. He was glad when it turned out that he was right and Machiavelli was no traitor - any member of the Assassins is, indeed, a brother (or sister) as far as Ezio is concerned, and he treats them as such, even if they don't always get along.
The flip side of this is his protectiveness - sometimes to the point of being overbearing, particularly with the women in his life. For instance, Ezio's relationship with his sister, Claudia, has sometimes suffered because of this impulse: he tries to keep her out of dangerous things, she gets mad because she can take care of herself, they have a big argument about it, etc. Ezio has a chivalrous streak a mile wide (one which occasionally veers into chauvinism), and this sometimes causes friction with the intelligent, strong-willed women he is most attracted to.
As a young man, Ezio was brash, impulsive, and had a quick temper. The first years of his career as an assassin were basically one big revenge bender, but he's mellowed out quite a bit over the decades. Middle-aged Ezio has a bit more patience, and is slightly less likely to act on impulse - but he's still got a bit of a hot head at times, particularly when he feels his honor is insulted (or the honor of someone he cares for), or especially when someone he cares for is under threat, or in danger.
Ezio is also an excellent leader, having devoted himself to building up the Assassin Brotherhood in Italy for a number of years, and being the official head of the order for almost a decade - known as Il Mentore, others tend to look to him for guidance and wisdom, and he's good at inspiring people to a cause. To him, the Brotherhood really is a family, a support system, and he's always in favor of making allies and cooperating with others to achieve goals.
He might be getting up there in years, but Ezio can still be temperamental, he's still got a thirst for knowledge, and he's still totally parkouring around every city he finds himself in. Even if he occasionally feels kinda tired and wonders if he shouldn't be retiring at some point...
POWER: Subtitles: Ezio will sometimes speak in Italian - fortunately for non-Italian speakers, they will be able to "see" in their mind's eye a set of subtitles whenever he does, so people will always know what he's saying! Even the cussin'.
Leap of Faith: Ezio can jump from the top of a building, and a haystack will always break his fall, even if a haystack wasn't there a moment ago. And he won't die, no matter how high the building.

But what I would like to know is, who truly wields power here? A king, or a doge? A council or a guild, perhaps? How did they obtain this power, and how do they make use of it? I am not as well-traveled as some, but it seems these are the questions to ask, when one wants to understand a new place.
Ah, but I forget my manners. [ He smiles a bit, because it's funny to him - saying this into a machine instead of to a person. ] I am Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Recently arrived to this country, from Constantinopoli. Has anyone here heard of it? It is also sometimes called Istanbul.

Mar. 12th, 2019 07:21 pm ★ First Impressions ♚ VISUAL: Ezio is in his early fifties, of average height for a man of his time period, with golden brown eyes and dark hair and beard, salted with gray. He's got a couple of scars on his face, most notably one across his lip on the right side. He often keeps his hood up, which helps to conceal his appearance, but in general he's a handsome guy, and very fit for someone his age - he clearly lives an active life. ♚ FASHION: Here is his standard Revelations-era outfit. In general, he favors dark gray, fur trim, the classic assassin hood. He looks a little odd in Constantinople, but not too outrageous, aside from generally being very well armed. He certainly has at least a sword and dagger visible on his person, possibly a crossbow. He's also got bracers on his arms and other bits of armor. ♚ DEMEANOUR: Ezio generally walks with the air of a man who knows he's probably the biggest badass in the room, but he's not bragging or anything. But, depending on the context, he can be very good at blending in with crowds, making himself seem smaller, evading notice, etc. If he doesn't want you to see him, he doesn't have any magic powers or anything but he definitely knows how to be stealthy. ♚ SOUND: SO FUCKING ITALIAN IT HURTS. Imagine an incredibly stereotypical Italian accent, and that's how Ezio talks. I can't make this shit up. As far as languages go, it's hard to know for sure, aside from the fact that Italian is obviously his native language. He probably knows Latin, Greek, and at least some Turkish. I obviously have him speak in English for purposes of thread stuff, but canonically I doubt he would know much, if any, English. ♚ SCENT: Ezio doesn't use any kind of perfume or anything like that - having a distinctive scent wouldn't do for keeping stealthy and blending in. So while he has good hygiene, he probably tries to smell more or less like anyone else - vaguely of decent soap, maybe a bit of a metallic undertone to it, or dust if he's been poking about in old ruins. ♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Ezio is, due to a weird genetic quirk, immune from mind control! Otherwise he doesn't have any particular mental shields or anything like that - for all intents and purposes he's a normal human being. ♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Nada, really. If you want your magical person to be able to tell that Ezio is maybe genetically not quite an average human, I'm willing to talk about it. ★ OOC ♚ BACKTAGGING: I'll pretty much backtag forever - especially meme threads. ♚ FOURTHWALLING: I'm 100% fine with historical fourthwalling of various sorts, but if you want a character to point out that Ezio is fictional, let's chat it out first. ♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Ezio is perfectly fine with physical affection coming from people he knows and trusts! If he sees a character as an enemy, he might not react so well, however. ♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Ezio is very used to fighting, and has killed a lot of people. He's technically a badass normal with no superpowers aside from just having trained for decades in various fighting and assassination techniques. And also parkour. :) ♚ RELATIONSHIPS: Ezio is pretty straight. Canonically, he's had affairs with a number of women in his life, including Cristina Vespucci, Caterina Sforza, and Sofia Sartor (whom he eventually marries). I'm down for shipping with all of these, and honestly any other ladies who might want to get frisky with a handsome, mysterious Italian. :) |
